Contentment

If you are not content with what you have,

You would not be satisfied, if it were doubled

C. H. Spurgeon

Dear friends

As I saw these words, I begun to think on them carefully.

What is contentment? It is a state of not just mind, it is a state of BEING in God and existing in his rest.

How many of us believe that if:

We just get rich

If we marry the right person

If we just attain that goal

If we just became popular or famous.

We would be happy

Alas those are fleeting thoughts and temporal things.

I once heard a televangelist say -

We see these things in the store (or these days online) and we strive to buy this/these items, only to find that pretty soon, the item/items doesn't give such joy anymore. In fact these things may even become forgotten.

Let us listen to these words carefully by the Apostle Paul and put them into practice

Phillipians 4:11 - 13

11 Not that I speak from [any personal] need, for I have learned to be content [and self-sufficient through Christ, satisfied to the point where I am not disturbed or uneasy] regardless of my circumstances. 12 I know how to get along and live humbly [in difficult times], and I also know how to enjoy abundance and live in prosperity. In any and every circumstance I have learned the secret [of facing life], whether well-fed or going hungry, whether having an abundance or being in need. 13 I can do all things [which He has called me to do] through Him who strengthens and empowers me [to fulfill His purpose—I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency; I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him who infuses me with inner strength and confident peace.]

Dear friends

Life is so short

And things can change so suddenly may we focus on what is really important in this life and remember that every thing we see today is temporal.

May we be so "absorbed" in God's love, built up and strengthened in his love. The deeper our roots grow in God's love, is as much as we will become unshakable

"Exhale" this very moment lay aside all those burdens. Many things we carry cannot even be changed by our own self effort.

May we learn to savour every moment of life, living out of the depth of God's love, his grace and his mercy. Truly embracing life with God and accepting who he made you to be.

May we live out of relationship with God and remember always

Romans 8:28

28 And we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes ALL things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose

Choose to remain in God's peace and joy, not just for today but everyday.

Thank God for giving us a Spirit of Contentment

Amen

Walk good in Christ

Till we meet again

Pastor J
