While on the prayer line today and praying for our children, the Holy Spirit led me to pray for their choices. The Bible in Joshua 24:15 states, “…. choose you this day whom ye will serve, ….
I was encapsulated by the word choice, realizing and being reminded that our lives are built around choices. God or satan, the Spirit or the flesh, Light or darkness, life or death, faith or fear, truth or lie. Our decision affects us both temporally and also eternally. The word Choose was defined by a theologian as; “the service of God in sincerity and truth and can only result from a free and willing allegiance of the heart”.
Choose you this day…. Today and everyday we are faced with choices, should I or not, do I or don’t, questions that need our immediate attention. After Joshua gathered all the tribes of Israel together, he spoke to them the words God gave him to speak. From verses 2-14, God reminded the Israelites of what He did for their ancestors and them: His supernatural deliverance, how He fought their battles, how He gave them land, cities, vineyards and oliveyards, things they did nothing to acquire. Everything going forward is determined by their choice today, whom will you serve?
God is saying to us, all that the Israelites went through, I am the One that delivered them and their experiences are synonymous with the challenges we face today, making our decision similar. We battle the three S’ daily, sin, self and satan but if we choose God, put God first, all our choices will be made for us. “…. but as for me and my house, we will serve (choose) the Lord.”
God Bless.
