Can science prove God exists by Marcel and Jacqueline Bruff

Can science prove God exists?

This is a question that has sparked debate and inquiry for centuries!

Science requires proof. Christian belief requires faith. Scientists don't try to prove or disprove God's existence because they know there isn't an experiment that can ever detect God.

However in the book of Romans, it is state, "For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God."

(Romans 1:20)

Scripture also teaches that God has revealed Himself in two ways: General Revelation and Special Revelation.

General Revelation is the evidence of God visible in the majesty of creation—from the human body and nature the things around us provide breadcrumbs and common sense tells us that He exists. God discloses Himself through the natural world, human conscience, and reason. This type of revelation is available to all people, regardless of their religious belief, culture or background.

Common sense tells us that something/ someone greater than us, had to create the visible objects around us.

The universe displays a spectacular view of the vastness of God and his greatness in governing the universe.

"The heavens declare the glory of God and the firmaments shows his handiwork" (Psalms 19:1).

While science and Christianity address different aspects of human understanding, some individuals attempt to use scientific evidence to support the existence of God. Here are a few examples:

1. The Cosmological Argument:

- The Big Bang theory suggests the universe had a beginning.

- This beginning could be seen as evidence of a creator or first cause, often identified as God.

2. The Teleological Argument (Argument from Design):

- The complexity and order in the universe, such as the fine-tuning of physical constants, could suggest an intelligent designer or creator.

3. The Argument from Morality:

- The existence of objective moral values and duties could be seen as evidence of a moral lawgiver, often identified as God.

4. The Argument from Consciousness:

- The nature of consciousness and the mind-body problem could lead some to argue for the existence of a non-physical, divine reality.

It is important to note though, that Science focuses on empirical evidence and natural explanations alone, whereas God's existence is often considered a matter of faith, as well as the fact that God is a spiritual being.

"No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him"

(John 1:18).

It is also true in Christianity that without faith it is impossible to please God. These arguments are not universally accepted and are subject to philosophical and scientific debates, which are ongoing for ages.

Many scientists and philosophers argue that God's existence cannot be either proven or disproven through scientific inquiry.

To approach this topic deeper, the following are ways to consider and experience God, body, mind, soul and heart with humility and a genuine passion for seeking God by way of accessibility.

1. Praise and worship is an amazing way to encounter God with a natural joy, euphoria.

2. Sanctification and consecration along with Fasting and prayers, works, many witnesses testified to the awesome power of prayer to access God, with results of dreams, visions, signs and wonders.

3. Engaging in respectful dialogue with people from diverse backgrounds and perspectives.

4. Exploring the intersection of science and religion, acknowledging their different domains and methods.

5. Praise and worship is an amazing way to encounter God with a natural joy, euphoria.

6. Studying the philosophical and scientific arguments for and against God's existence

7. Spiritual gifts and manifestation (1 Corinthians 12)

Remember, the question of God's existence is a deeply personal and intimate one, and science is just one aspect of human understanding. We have been given sufficient evidence of the all-powerful and eternal God through the creations that are visible.

However, although general revelation is sufficient for the evidence of God, it is not sufficient to redeem the heart, reconcile a person to God through atonement and forgiveness, and redeem their soul. For this reason Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life and nobody comes to the Father except by me.”

Special revelation is another way we can know God. This is God's direct communication with specific individuals or groups, often through miraculous events, prophets, or through sacred texts. This type of revelation is considered unique and authoritative, providing insight into God's character, plans, and purposes. Some examples in the Holy Bible include the story of the crossing of the red sea by the Israelites (Exodus 14:21-29) and the story of Elijah (1 Kings 18:19-22).

The distinction between General and Special Revelation acknowledges that God's existence and character can be discerned through both natural and supernatural means. While General Revelation provides a foundation for understanding God's existence through nature, special revelation offers more specific guidance, wisdom, and insight into God's plans.

As Christians we acknowledge the special revelation from the Bible of Jesus' death, burial and resurrection as the quintessential purpose for our delivery from sin.

It is therefore true that Observable Science proves the existence of God.
