Bountifully or Sparingly
The scripture in 2 Corinthians 9:6 says, “but this I say, he that soweth sparingly shall reap sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.” Verse 7b went on to say, “not grudgingly, or of necessity; for God loveth a cheerful giver.” Matters of the heart!
Many times we give to receive, not giving from a grateful heart but from a heart of want. We get captivated with the idea of, the more we give is the more we receive. The fact is, our giving must be done from the heart.
Sowing sparingly is sowing reluctantly and this leads to spiritual poverty and if we sow this way we will reap the same, spiritual deadness. “He that hath pity on the poor lendeth unto the Lord; and that which he hath given will he pay him again,” Proverbs 19:17. Bountiful giving means giving with blessings; bountifulness blesses the giver and the receiver. “He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed; for he giveth his bread to the poor,” Proverbs 22:9.
The quality of our gift or giving is of utmost importance because it shows the quality of our heart. Luke 21:2-3, “and he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites. And he said, of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all.” There is a blessing that’s attached to bountiful giving and it’s mentioned in 2 Corinthian 9:8, “God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work.”
God Bless.
