Boasting in the Lord
A couple years after accepting Christ as my Lord and Savior, I decided to make a personal effort to give Him all praise and glory in everything I do; especially after gaining knowledge of His providence in my life. Jehovah Jireh, my Provider, Genesis 22:14. The good He gives by His grace, the bad He allows by His grace, nevertheless, “in every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you,” 1 Thessalonians 5:18.
To God be the glory have become my favorite phrase to everything. It has now become a verbal staple and a joy to point people to Jesus, the reason I am able to accomplish. I will boast in the Lord! The Hebrew word for boast is Mahalal, the Greek translation for boast is Kauchaomai, which means praise, Hallelujah, praise Jehovah.
Boasting is a sin; this we were taught from a tender age. It brings attention to ourself, me, myself and I. More importantly, boasting is a symptom of pride which causes bragging, look what I have accomplished. This boasting is a way of elevating ourself which leads to spiritual ruin. “Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall,” Proverbs 16:18.
“Thus saith the Lord, let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: But let him glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the Lord which exercise lovingkindness, judgement, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these thing I delight, saith the Lord,” Jeremiah 9:23-24.
God Bless.
