Blinded By Sin
Prior to being a Christian, my friendship base was very attractive but after I got saved, my circle of friends started diminishing. When I was living in sin, I was blinded to righteousness but thanks be to God He came and set me free.
Saints, it’s literally like a light was turned on in me when I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. 2 Corinthians 5:17 puts it this way, “therefore, if man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” It became so evident how blinded I was by sin after accepting Christ. I normally explain it this way, I never knew how many Toyota cars were on the road until we bought one.
Paul’s experience was obvious while travelling on the road to Damascus, Acts 9. He was totally blinded by his sinful act of persecuting the Church. Sin blinded Paul and it became apparent to him when God’s literal Light made him unable to see. Thank God for every Ananias in our lives, that when we were and are blinded by sin, righteousness will make us see.
Just like Paul, the woman caught in adultery and brought to Jesus, was blinded by sin, John 8. But when none of her accusers admitted they were without sin, verse 9, Righteousness stepped in and forgave her. Verse 11b, “neither do I condemn thee: go and sin no more.”
Brothers and sisters, our growth in Christ exposes sin in us, sin in the world and sin in our Churches. Even our circle of friends is greatly affected, when we allow Righteousness to take control.
God Bless.
