These words are included in the beatitudes:
Matthew 5:9
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God"
A peacemaker, from a Biblical perspective, is one who is actively trying to reconcile people to God and to one another. Again, there is that word actively. It’s about helping people reconcile who have broken relations among themselves, but more importantly, with God. To be a peacemaker requires God's grace and the conduit to being a peacemaker is one has to be first filled with God's Agape love.
Here are some characteristics of a peacemaker:
1. The first relates to how we see individuals:
We need to see them as God sees them. Each has a special purpose for living on this earth and some right now at this stage of their lives are "diamonds in the rough". One never knows how an individual will end so we definitely need to be connected to the heart of God in relation to all individuals we have encounters with.
2 The next is recognising that in healthy relationships conflict will arise. A contributing factor to this is no two individuals are ever alike in their personalities and make up. It is imperative that we never put ourselves in a lofty place as always being right. Let's be willing to listen, continue loving with the Agape (unconditional undeserved love). Love
covers a multitude of sins. This should not be a difficult thing to do as we recognise as we extend mercy we will be recipients of mercy.
3 We are peacemakers for the cause of Christ. Leaving all thoughts of vengeance and justice to God.
4 How we deal with offences truly shows our Christian maturity listen to these words:
Psalm 119:165
Great peace have those who love your law;
nothing can make them stumble
The King James translation says nothing shall offend them.
There are so many pointers I could give but may these few I have given be a guide. May God give us the grace and wisdom to be peacemakers at all times and so effectively reflect Christ and give God glory
Walk Good in Christ
Till we meet again
