Being Pliable
As I started buttering two slices of bread to make a sandwich, I realized the butter wasn’t enough. I had to replace it with a full container from the freezer. That butter couldn’t be used because it was frozen and unable to spread. This experience made me take a good look into myself and ask the question, am I pliable?
Being pliable is being broken by the Holy Spirit and allowing yourself to be used by Him. When broken, we become subdued and attentive to the direction and the operation of the Holy Spirit. Our attitude becomes softer and the fear of the Lord is developed inwardly, spontaneously becoming pliable. Being pliable causes us to be humble, “but He giveth more grace. Wherefore He saith, God resisteth the proud, and giveth more grace to the humble,” James 4:6.
Our pliability is based on our submission to the Almighty God. The more we submit, is the more pliable we become. Verse 7 says, “submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
If we are not pliable, we become stiffnecked. The Bible says in 2 Chronicles 30:8, “now be ye not stiffnecked, as your fathers were, but yield yourselves unto the Lord, and enter into His sanctuary, which He has sanctified for ever, and serve the Lord your God, that the fierceness of His wrath may turn away from you.”
God Bless.
