Bearing Fruit is Continuous

“That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good works….” Colossians 1:10.

Here in Canada it has started get a bit chilly late in evening and in the morning. Prior to this, you could see where our vegetable crop was coming to an end. Suddenly, we got a blast of rain for a couple days and I could not believe how much the garden started springing up again. Rain and sunshine is what our crop needs to bear fruit continually.

We are also called to be fruitful and this fruitfulness is continuous. The word of the Lord in Colossians 1:10 says “…. being fruitful in every good works, ….” There is a source. There is a source and there is a requirement. Everything in the world is connected to this source and it’s God Almighty.

The phrase being fruitful in Greek means, bearing fruit and it’s in a continuous tense. This is made evident in verse 10a; walking and in so doing we are pleasing the Lord.

Being fruitful metaphorically suggests that Christians are like trees of righteousness, that should produce good fruit which is our good works. Saints of God, just like the plants and the trees need water and sunlight to be fruitful, we need knowledge and faith in God to produce. At the end of the day God is the Source and because of Him we are fruitful.

God Bless.
