The prodigal son came to his senses, and said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you.
I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired servants.’ So he got up and went to his father. (Luke 15:17-20)
In the Christian community backsliding is known as falling away, it is a term used within all Christendom to describe a process by which an individual who has converted to Christianity reverts to pre-conversion habits and lapses or falls into sin.
Backsliding is also described as "Apostasy." the abandonment or renunciation of God.
When a person turns from God to pursue their own desire, it is very dangerous to their eternal soul.

"Turn, O backsliding children, saith the Lord; for I am married unto you.
you are a child of God, you will never be happy in sin. You are spoiled for the world, the flesh, and the devil. When you were regenerated there was put into you a vital principle, which can never be content to dwell in the dead and decaying world.
Please come back to your first love, come back to the everlasting love, come back to abundant life. You belong to the family of God.
Hosea 14:4 I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely: for mine anger is turned away from him.
The main message of the parable of the prodigal son is
The father forgives his son when he returns and welcomes him home. In the same way, God waits for humans to realise what they have done wrong and ask for forgiveness and welcomes them back with unconditional love.
