Are we Dedicated to God
Philippians 3:8, “…., and I count all but loss, for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them dung, that I may win Christ. The more we understand Christ and what He has done for us, is the more dedicated we are in working for Him. The knowledge we gain of Christ is on the inside of us but is lived and expressed on the outside. The Apostle Paul was the exact personification of this level of commitment.
Being dedicated means, “given up to or devoted to”. It is to dedicate one’s self wholly and chiefly to the service of Christ. The idea of dedication is embodied in the New Testament word Saints. A dedicated believer is one that’s set apart to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. “Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ,” 1 Peter 2:5.
To be dedicated is to keep our attention on God, to become a resident of the word of God. “He that dwelleth in the secret of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in Him will I trust,” Psalm 91:1. Our Christian identity is truly visible through our dedication to God.
This dedication to Christ is considered individualism and Paul expressed it in Philippians 3:8, when he said my Lord which suggests intimacy. For us to have this intimacy, we must be like Paul and call everything dung; meaning, refuse (cast to the dogs), just to gain Christ. So, I ask you today, are you dedicated to God?
God Bless.
