An Encounter with Wisdom
“And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: …., Joshua 24:15a.
Joshua gave the people of Israel a choice, either they choose to serve satan or the Lord God Almighty. As he conveyed to the tribes what the Lord laid on his heart, he concluded with this statement, “…. as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord, ….” 15b.
I spoke to a religious person while in the ministry yesterday and he talked about having knowledge of all the various religions. He said, what you guys are doing is fulfilling the will of God for your lives. He went on to say, being a security officer at this government run home for the homeless, he has seen a lot. With this knowledge he has come to the conclusion that all of us have a good and a bad side. The bad side leads us into a life of sin and the good side leads to Godliness. He went on further to say, God has given all of us a choice and you guys have chosen to do good. I was taken back by the wisdom of this person.
God gave the people of Israel rest after destroying their enemies, Joshua 23:1. So it is with us Christians, after accepting Christ as Lord and Savor, He destroys all the enemies of our life. Joshua urged the people to get rid of all the strange gods around them and served the Lord only. I say to you today, choose the good side so as to live a life of Godliness.
God Bless.
