A Servant
“Simon Peter a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ ….,” 2 Peter 1:1. “Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, ….” Jude 1 “Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, ….” Romans 1:1. What will the first statement of your book be? Would you describe yourself as a servant?
Can you say today, I am a servant of the Lord? The actual meaning for the word servant is slave. In the Greek it translated into two words, Doulos and Andrapoden. Doulos means, one born into slavery and Andrapoden is one captured in war and sold into slavery. Kenneth Wuest went on to say, it was by virtue of the new birth, that the Apostles and all Christians, became slaves for Jesus Christ.
Peter declared to us that, first, he is a slave for Christ and to the spreading of the gospel. Paul and Jude did the same as mentioned in the above scriptures. Saints of God, we have to be totally surrendered to Christ to be a servant. This actually means, to be led fully by Christ. They are two Masters that every individual have a choice to serve. Either God the Master of righteousness or satan the one that governs sin. “Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey: whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness.
The Psalmist says in Psalm 116:16, “O Lord, truly I am thy servant; I am thy servant, and the son of thy handmaid: thou hast loosed my bonds.” Knowing this, will you declare today, I am a servant?
God bless.
