A Call For Christians to Expose Darkness

“In the beginning God created the Heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, LET THERE BE LIGHT: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness,” Genesis 1:1-4.

Darkness, an atmosphere that prevents vision, our ability to see. It’s the absence of light, an act of keeping the truth hidden. Generally, the word darkness has many different definitions but for Christians it’s mostly synonymous with satan. Proverbs 29:18, “where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.”

In Genesis 1, God created creation and in doing so light was created which exposed darkness. God inturn, separated the two, “…. and what communion hath light with darkness,” 2 Corinthians 6:14? A Christian’s vision is of utmost importance, without it we will not be able to see the truth. The Bible in 1 Peter 2:9 states, “…., that ye should shew forth the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.”

Our transformation from darkness to light is similar to that of Paul’s. While on the road of Damascus (signifying living in darkness), he was persecuting Christians, he was blind to the truth. But after his encounter with God and his subsequent conversion, he was now able to see clearly. Christians are light and light exposes darkness. Are we exposing darkness?

God Bless.
