2025’s Threshing Floor
In 1 Kings 3:5, God appeared to King Solomon in a dream and asked him, “…. what shall I give thee?” Solomon responded in verse 9 by saying, “give therefore your servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad ….” Please take note, Solomon asked for wisdom but God gave him, “…. a wise and understanding heart, …. riches and honour: …. If that wasn’t enough, God told him if he kept His statues and commandments, He will lengthen his days, verses 12-14.
As we transition into 2025, I pray we will come to the realization of what’s beneficial to us for the furtherance of the gospel of Jesus Christ. We are given a mandate, “go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to everyone”, Mark 16:15. Solomon quickly realized he needed wisdom to govern God’s people. What is it that you need?
On the other hand, a threshing floor is a place where the farmers separate the grain from the chaff. Spiritually, grains are beneficial but chaffs are rubbish. Through prayer let us realize the chaffs of 2024 and leave them behind us and embrace the grains as we take them with us into 2025. God is also asking us today, what shall I give you for 2025?
After we have threshed 2024, we are faced with the challenges of 2025. King Solomon asks for wisdom for his new position. For this new year, what will your request to the Lord be?
